The rune is designed in the form of a rustic pendant resembling a tree branch or twig with three uneven, jagged prongs. The surface of the pendant has a rough, handcrafted appearance, adding to its organic and primitive aesthetic.
Pendant size is about 1.6" by 1.2" inches or (40 mm by 30 mm). The pendant comes on a black waxed cotton cord necklace. The pendant weighs approximately 0.18 oz (5 grams).
The Algiz ᛉ Rune is one of the most powerful runes of the Futhark which is the rune of protection and defense. The other names for Algiz are Elhaz and Yr Rune, and it literally translates and symbolizes the antlers of the elk, a powerful totem animal in the Norse world of the gods. The Algiz rune can be used for protection against physical and spiritual danger. It can also be used to promote success, abundance, and good luck. Its meanings also include divinity, higher self, and the state of listening. Algiz runic number is 15.
Algiz, commonly known as the z-rune, is a Norse symbol believed to have originated in Viking culture. It is commonly associated with protection, strong spiritual guidance and security from harm. To ancient Norse and Germanic cultures, Algiz was seen as a sign of connection between humans and the divine – an association that has endured throughout history despite shifts in cultural hegemony. An Algiz amulet, for example, was often gifted during weddings or house-warming gatherings in pre-Christian North Europe to ensure good spiritual protection for its occupants. Today Algiz continues to be a popular symbol referring to ancestral values such as inner strength and emotional support.
Runes are a Norse alphabet developed around 200 BCE, from characters used for magical purposes. According to Norse myth, the alphabet was discovered in a vision by the god Odin as he hung upside down and wounded for nine days on the World Tree Yggdrasil. There are three commonly known runic alphabets: the 'elder' and 'younger' Futhark (Futhark being the transliteration of the first few letters of that alphabet), the Anglo-Saxon Futhork, and the Danish 'short twig' or script alphabet.
Optionally, you can add the genuine handmade leather pouch stitched with a natural hemp cord. It makes a nice gift case for the pendant.
